Conversion to DVD takes more work of course!

Indeed.

I am another fan of VideoRedo - VERY fast and can tidy-up many non-standard
"features" of TS files!

Streamclip is also fast when it's a simple question of filtering - i.e.
conversion from the transport stream without re-encoding the video.

Thanks to all responders to my earlier request but I've thus far not managed
to do this - help!

For example Freemake is typical - The TS file apparently doesn't contain any
information about the data within it (PMTs?) so Freemake won't read them.
Is there some magic step involving the other three files which the Hummy
creates with similar filenames to the TS file?

Note - for now it's all SD contact to DVD.

I use Super to convert TS from my Comag to .avi - with a slight audio
lag issue, which is easily rectified in vdub.
Whether that has any bearing on your TS at all, I don't know.
