Default Sky Signal Strength Zero nothing to worry about?

My SKY + HD box shows a signal strength of zero on certain potentially
troublesome channels such as CBS Reality and has done every since I got my
1TB Sky HD box about a year ago. CBS Reality one of the first to go if the
dish needs aligning and as far as I am aware I have no problems with the
picture quality and its not breaking up or reporting satellite signal not
being received.

Fortunately the signal quality is over 60% which is the critical factor as
when the dish became unaligned this time last year both signal strength and
quality were close to zero and I had picture breakups and/or satellite
signal not being received. I have been praying that the dish won't become
unaligned again in this gusty weather we have had of late but so far so good
and it looks like whatever fix they implemented last time seems to be
holding up in this latest gusty weather.

I spend most my weekends around me mams but I can log into my slingbox at my
flat to check the picture to see if its breaking up.

Searched google and found this thread

He too had very low signal strength after moving into an flat served by a
communal dish and the satellite engineers weren't worried about low signal
strength stating that it was to be expected from a dish serving 25 flats and
that quality was the only concern, his main problem was due to DECT
interference which I too had at me mams place (which has 100% signal
strength on CBS Reality) but since moving the DECT a couple of meters away
no further problems.

So you did start paying for $ky HD+ then despite your initial protestations
at the cost?

No I still don't have SKY + HD, I have Sky + with a HD Box. My subscription
includes all the channels that were split into several packs but then
changed to just two packs - entertainment and entertainment plus and Sky
Sports 1. I get my fix of HD entertainment thanks to BBC1 HD BBC HD ITVHD
(via other channels) C4 HD and C5 HD and I don't think its worth paying for
HD versions of channels.

For what its worth, if you have DECT phone interference then these channels
are most likely to suffer picture breakup note CBS Reality is not one of
them.

188 True Ent
321 True Movies 1
322 True Movies 2
365 Chart Show TV
366 The Vault
367 Flava
372 Bliss
374 Scuzz

382 NME TV
616 POP
617 Tiny POP
625 Tiny POP +1
626 POPGirl
627 Kix!
629 POPGirl +1

If you have a dish alignment problem then these are the ones that I had
problems with as you can see there are far more affected and CBS Reality is
one of them.

I just logged into my slingbox and took this screen shot

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/706/slingbox.png/

Which shows the signal strength of input1 to be 0% whereas input2 has a 30%
to 40% signal strength yet the most important stat is the signal quality
which is about 80% on input1.

Okay, thanks for the explanation.

Certainly not for the content on ITV-2 HD and ITV-3 HD since much
of their schedule is derived from non-HD material.

Do not forget that STV (west) HD and NHK World TV HD are also
available FTA from Astra 2/Eurobird-1 cluster!

I probably do not watch as much free HD content as I should really and I was
impressed tonight when I tuned into Wild at Heart on ITV HD and it looked
fantastic, its good to know I have HDTV in my locker should I wish to view
it.
