Default Old Humax PVR (8000T ?) problem, fails when re-tuning

We have two Humax PVRs and use the newer one most of the time as it
can record two channels and has more disk space. However just
occasionally we use the old one to record a third channel etc.

Just recently (like yesterday) we tried this and it seemed a little
confused about the channels when we turned it on so we did the obvious
thing and told it to rescan.

It dies at the second multiplex it finds saying that there are 19 more
channels than it can accomodate, this doesn't actually appear to be
true, it's certainly very confused about things.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Is it software, or is the old
Humax broken, or what?
