mounting how come everything has to be MK Logic? Surface mount being
inherently naff?


It doesn't have to be MK but it does have to be surface. The wall is stone
with just a skim of plaster - there is no depth to it - and trying to
chase out stone is something I gave up doing years ago...

unless it is granite I find chasing stone easier than brick - more
predictable. My 1897 bricks are like iron - the sandstone is much softer.

The problem that often arises when a socket is set flush in stone is
that damp gets in.

If it was sandstone then I'd be very happy to try it. This is an old
cottage built from stone which looks to me like river rocks. I've
already done in several drills over the years.
