Default TOT Foie Gras

A butcher has been thrown out of his concession in Selfridges for
selling foie gras under the counter, which they have banned.

This quote is part of his comment afterwards,

“Stuffing a goose with grain is like stuffing me with Guinness, it has
been totally blown out of proportion."

So buy it online from a reputable supermarket.

I wonder if Carrefour has recovered from last year's faux pas.

Foie Gras is the liver of a force-fed goose or duck.
It is banned on animal welfare grounds.

Wikipedia says:

quote
force feeding takes place 12–18 days before slaughter. The duck or goose
is typically fed a controlled amount of corn mash through a tube
inserted in the animal's cuticle-lined esophagus.

Foie gras production has been banned in some nations because of the
force-feeding process, including some members of the European Union,
Turkey, and Israel. Foie gras producers maintain that force feeding
ducks and geese is not uncomfortable for the animals nor is it hazardous
to their health.

A classic example of selective quoting in order to support the author's
argument when in fact matters are not at all clear cut as he states. If you
read the whole article opinion is divided as to the question of cruelty or
otherwise. In addition there may, and I emphasise the may, be risks to human
health from consuming it. I leave it to the reader to view the whole article
and form their own conclusions. I make no comment either way.
