Default Smart 3D TV sets.

Was in PCworld, Currys and Comet today not to buy a TV but did notice the
abundance of 3D Smart TV sets at least the front 2 rows are marked 3D in big
letters.
2D TV sets were pushed right to the back and were a mixture of Digital sets
and Digital HD ones.
So what is this Smart 3D for which you do not need special glasses?
Regards
David

Smart implies Internet connectivity. Usually the maker has some preset web
sites that you can access (makers vary) - also possibility to network to
home PC to view photos. listen to music, etc. Nothing to do with 3D.

Smart TV is Samsung's new (as from 2011 models) branding of Internet
connectable TVs, as explained by Derby Boy.

Remember you need an Internet connection in order to receive the
Freeview EPG's new offering of IPTV stations.

These are primarily pay per view, but with freebies from CCTV,
Central China Television, in order that you may keep in touch with
what is happening in the world's fastest growing
capitalist economy and likely 21st century world economic superpower,
that is currently bailing out and buying up much of Europe.

LG is working on 3D TV without glasses

http://www.lgblog.co.UK/2010/06/a-3d-future-without-glasses/

and now has a model DX2500 available only on sale in the Republic of Korea

Toshiba has had two 3D without glasses models of the REGZA 21 inch and 24 inch
range out in stores only in the Empire of Japan since December 2010.

http://www.3dtvguide.ORG/3d-tv-without-glasses.html

So you are definitely not going to see any of the models in
stores in the Metropolitan County of West Yorkshire just yet,
and almost definitely not before they have gone on sale in
the USofA.

Not to be confused with Mr Helpmann.

What would Ena Sharples say to that?

Many a true word.. Bring back Amstrad.
I dropped a TV on my foot once, I yelled and said a few swear words and
realised it smarted, so this must have now been perfected, ie they have
specially designed them now to maximaise how much it smarts when you drop
one on your foot.

No just free emails encouraging you to use Lovefilm etc.

"Smart" is a useless technology with my broadband connection!

But I watched 'Strictly Come Dancing for the first time as I managed to
record it in 3D.
