Smart TV is Samsung's new (as from 2011 models) branding of Internet connectable TVs, as explained by Derby Boy. I won't think a TV is truly 3D until the image rises from the table and I can look around it! Todays TVs are 2 1/2 D at most. Steve -- Neural network software applications, help and support. But I watched 'Strictly Come Dancing for the first time as I managed to record it in 3D. Works well on mine! Well, works .. not really tried the apps on it yet as it's still new and not 3D, but iPlayer works and all the other streaming stuff seems to .. and I now don't have to stream to the Xbox to watch HD films etc, the TV sorted it all out very nicely, thank you .. ![]() -- Paul - xxx "You know, all I wanna do is race .. and all I wanna do is win" Mark Cavendish, World Champion 2011. |

It was always the case though. I remember what happened when we got bbc 2.
Dual standard. 625line button. Trouble was the latter were a load of rubbish as they were not containing the different standard, merely a button for it no doubt intended to have a module fitted later which never turned up. I know about this one as Redifusion were a company who fell into this trap. Good grief, did it make any more appealing than it would have been
otherwise, or was it such a novelty, along the lines of the stereo demo broadcasts of the 1950s with trains chugging across the living room? I suppose there is a certain novelty in seeing the introduction of stereo vision almost 60 years after first hearing stereo audio. In fact the "stereo vision" is more than 100 years old counting 3D photographs and cinema. B&W stereoscopic TV was tested around 1950 already and with red and blue glasses in the eighties once more. Really top quality 3D TV is available only now with HD resolution and digital compression, most impressing on a 2m screen on the wall with 3D projection at home... |

Or indeed with the Legon stereoscopic viewer, which by virtue of the optical system, creates the illusion of looking at a 2m screen 2m away. Oh yes, and doesn't require special glasses, and is completely without ghosting or flicker! :-) |

I know about this one as Redifusion were a company who fell into this trap. Brian Thorn produced some chassis like that, the 700 series I think. A rotary system switch knob on the side that served to switch the timebase between 405 and 625, but no switching on the IFs and no UHF tuner. As you said, the manufacturers never produced a conversion kit. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |
