Having bought a Sony 32 inch last year, I was looking for an similar
model (32EX503 - now obsolete) for a neighbour and noticed that a few
were still available, though often a litttle above the original price.

However this takes the biscuit!

Yes, I've seen some really odd pricing like this elsewhere. I wonder
if it means the product isn't really available, so they are
deliberately discouraging you from buying.

I wonder if the vendor would lose their Google placing, or something,
if they actually marked them as "not available".

As I say, I've seen this elsewhere in Amazon. They obviously can't be
serious prices. It is puzzling.

I see 'Reference Point' is 'Just Launched (No feedback yet)'. Could
these prices be so they can offer huge reductions after the requisite
period at the price previously charged has passed?

I've seem it on Ebay. To avoid re-listing costs or something they just
alter the BIN to something ridiculous when temporarily out of stock then
change it back afterwards. Could be Amazon operates a similar fees system
with those who sell through them.

One of those on offer is £8,239.00 + £13.32 shipping. But that includes
personal installation by Russ Andrews.

and by not Archie Andrews?

Archie Andrews, as I am sure that you are well aware, had his own series on
the wireless on the BBC in the 1950s and 60s. But, unlike Russ Andrews, he
couldn't speak Dutch. Not that Russ can speak a lot of it because if you
click on any of the links it reverts to English!

Not the best Dutch/English translations in the world - I'm not sure if
Russ Andrews' Dutch translations may play a part here, though I'm sure I
could make a better job of the reverse translation if I could be
bothered ...

Vertalingen

U zult zien dat wij onze homepage en onze klantenservice-pagina?s in het
Nederlands hebben vertaald (u kunt ze vinden bij het informatiepunt). Op
dit moment is de informatie over onze producten nog in het Engels, maar
we zullen in de komende maanden meer van de website laten vertalen.

Translations

You will see that we our homepage and our customer service pages in
English have translated (you can find them at the information point). At
this moment is the information about our products still in English, but
we will in the coming months more of the translated website.

Belangrijk!

Helaas spreekt niemand van ons verkoopteam Nederlands. U kunt echter
gewoon uw e-mails in het Nederlands naar ons sturen ? onze vertaaldienst
zal uw e-mail en ons antwoord vertalen. Zoals u zich kunt voorstellen,
neemt dit enige tijd in beslag. Rekent u er dus op dat het een paar
dagen kan duren voordat u een antwoord van ons krijgt.

Important!

Unfortunately none of us sales team speaks Dutch. However, you can just
send us your emails in English ? our translation service will translate
your email and our response. As you can imagine, this takes some time.
Do you charge so that it may take a few days before you get a reply from
us.

I particularly like "Unfortunately none of us (sic) sales team speaks
Dutch." which is a correct translation - the Dutch version should have
used 'onze' (our) instead of 'ons' (us)!

There must be a gag there about double Dutch. But I can't think of it.

More seriously, it will be interesting to see if Dutch advertising
regulations are any more effective than ours.
