Default Ferguson F3230LVD "error unable to access digital services"

A friend has a 2 year old F3230LVD TV which this week displayed the message:
"error unable to access digital services" and now has no channels. We are
past DSO so there is no analogue signal but when I retune, it searches only
analogue (it is supposed to do that then continue to search digital). As
the tuner passes across the UHF band there are the indications that it is
seeing a signal which, of course, the analogue tuner ignores. I've done a
reset and unplugged it.

Google says some Orion and Toshiba sets have done the same thing but no one
has posted a fix - other than that Toshiba say return the set as it cannot
be fixed. The set is now running with an external box so large parts of
the set are fine - just the digital tuner knocked out.

Does any one have the same problem, and a fix, or even an idea?

Geoff

Try digging through the menu system to find the factory reset,
apply that and see what happens (and let us know.)

I've done the reset that shows on menus - but I think that was not a
fundamental "factory" (hard)reset as when switched on from no power, it did
not go into auto set up, as it, presumably, normally would. So I guess the
one that shows in the menus is a "soft" reset.
