A bit of 'academy curve' would have sorted it. ;-)

They muffled the voices to simulate early signs.

I don't know how anyone can think that is acceptable.

Perhaps it's deliberate. Make it difficult to understand so people have to
concentrate on it. Same sort of principle as whispering actors?

Luckily for me, it looks like another "load of mediocre actors, writers
etc. looking for a career" type of drama that's prevalent these days.

I'm happy to avoid it/them.

I'll watch most original drama and usually enjoy it. I'll leave the
'reality' and game shows for others.

Perhaps you're not as critical. ;-) I listen through a very good
external sound system.

Me too. In fact I've already lodged a complaint with the BBC about
this issue in episode 1. No reply yet.

I listen via the internal speakers of a Sony Bravia and focus on the
programme not the quality of the recording or picture.

Good for you. However I find very inferior sound quality interferes with
my enjoyment of any programme. And the sound quality from any TV's
internal speakers poor anyway. To my ears.

During the first episode I found both the sound and the image quality
irritating. The last two episodes were OK.

If there was an improvement, it was marginal.

Anyway the series has ended and from now on it will be just more repeats
and even more mindless crap for people with low IQs.

All the more reason to try and have the quality maintained on new stuff.
