Default sat dish mounting query

Is it possible to install a dish at the back of south facing house? My
mate wants to install a freesat system but his wife point-blank refuses
to have a dish at the front. It's a standard semi with a pitched roof.

if you can mount it so that it 'sees' over the roof. Either high up, close
to the house or on the ground at teh far end of the garden.

Bill Wright has provided information about that:

Yes, but the signal will have to go all the way around the world, so there
will be about a 1/6 second delay.

Of course it is. You just drill holes and put it up. Whether you want it
to work or not is a different matter.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to go to

http://www.dishpointer.COM/

and check how high up and/or how far back down the garden you would need
to mount your dish to see over anything which would obstruct the signal,
such as the roof of your house.

Alternatively, if there's a chimney a mini dish can often be fitted at
its base, as long as the masonry is in good nick.
