Woopeee!

Pity lots of people bought TV's before that then, probably expecting
them to work for a good few years.

2012? What? That must be in some obscure south eastern part of the UK
I guess. Prettywell everywhere else will be switched by this time next
year.

Londoncentric ******** as usual.

Does the removal of analogue in my area negate the need now for a
licence for analogue only sets ?

I would say that as a licence is needed to receive TV and in a digital only
area a analogue only TV wont receive TV then the answer is No licence
needed.

Just consider it a monitor with RF as an optional input along with Scart and
Phono etc.

What do I know.

Agreed, but if you use the analogue TV with a STB, then a licence will
be needed - either for the TV or the STB

The end of analogue transmissions doesn't in itself change anything.
If you weren't using it to receive broadcasts before the switch-off,
you didn't need a licence for it then either. The only people who
will cease to need a licence are those who were watching analogue TV
and who stop watching broadcast TV altogether - any extremely small
number I think.

Possibly not as many as don't yet know that their "HDTV with Freeview"
won't do FreeviewHD without an external box!
