Default BBC left/liberal/green bias in the last few days

Last night the BBC TV news had an item about the cuts in the education
budget. The story was that the government had decided to cut millions
of pounds from the last government's proposed education budget, but no
mention was made of the fiscal reasons was given, so it sounded as if
they'd done it for their own reasons. This item was illustrated by a
series of shots showing abandoned school buildings, including some
that looked as if they had suffered mining subsidence and were about
to be pulled down.

Many would argue education is the last thing that should suffer from cuts.

At the end of Newsnight they showed the front pages of the papers. The
Times led with a report just out saying that the IPCC reports on
climate change (upon which many governments based their climate change
policies) have been shown to be alarmist and biased. Newsnight chose
to ignore this and commented on the picture story instead before
moving swiftly on.

Climate change is one of those issues which defies comment. Those who
believe it is man made won't be swayed in their wiews any more than those
who believe it isn't.

Rather like your constant harping on about BBC left wing bias. ;-)

The Now Show was even more blatantly leftist then usual.

Good grief. I take it you've only started listening to it since the
election?
Hint. It is anti-establishment. Or perhaps you just nodded wisely when
they sent up Gordon Brown?

Why are we obliged to subscribe to this left wing organisation? It's
like being made to buy the Dailey Worker.

Well stick to Rupert Murdoch's products. There will only be right wing
bias there, which is more to your taste.

No, your memory is not at fault.

Why not relive the whole moment once again and admire the rhetoric of the
Conservative and Unionist Party's most distinguished and prominent elder
statesman today (who has allegedly kicked a child in public
but never been prosecuted for assault).

Why do people resort to labeling people whose views they disagree with

It really is very silly and just makes me mad.

The problems are, however that 'our' cultural values
tend to evolve and change all the time anyway.

Most of the current ones were invented by the Conservative and
Unionist Party in the 19th Century, along with the import of
a number of German pagan traditions like chopping down trees
and bringing them into the house during the winter solstice.

Being anti-establishment is inherently left wing biased,
leaning towards anarchism.

Even the supporters of continuing the entrenched communist
establishment were called "conservatives".

And curiously I'm not the only one who predicted that the
Bush/Halliburton axis would pursue a scorched earth policy if voted
out of office.

I just hadn't realised they'd take down the whole world's economy
while they were at it.

At times, after careful reflection, yes.

I meet a lot of people, from all walks of life. I listen to them. I
constantly get the impression that many of their concerns are ignored
or marginalised by mainstream politicians. It surprises me how many
young people feel that way. It's worrying because if they became
totally disenchanted or disillusioned with the democratic process we
could be in real trouble. The main issue that people are unhappy about
is immigration. Over and over again I hear people saying that we have
allowed too many people into the country for too long, and that we
allow people in who have no intention of integrating and who just want
to form enclaves within the UK. Some people express this in a racist
way because they are angry, and know no better. Many people who are
clearly not racist express these opinions, yet they know that if they
speak out they will be branded as racist. Luckily most people can see
the difference between having concerns about immigration and being
racist, which is why the BNP did so badly in the election.
Incidentally I think a lot of people have come to realise that Labour
had a deliberate policy of encouraging mass immigration for their own
electoral reasons.

The other big moan that people have is that we are too soft on crime.

Bill
