I currently make my own DVDs, mainly of holidays, and play them on my TV
(Panasonic TX-32LXD52) with a cheap DVD player. (I also make copies for family and friends.) But my video software is capable of burning higher definition discs of two types: Blu-ray and 'AVCHD', and I'd therefore like to buy a unit which is capable of at least the following: 1. Play standard DVDs on my TV 2. Record standard DVDs from existing Sky Plus recordings on the Sky box hard drive. (I have about 6 Sky+ recordings marked 'Keep' and want to free up the space.) 3. Play blu-ray DVDs on my TV 4. Play 'AVCHD' DVDs on my TV I'm a total novice at this stuff, so would much appreciate any and all advice please. Ideally some specific product recommendations. -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK |

Anyway my Panasonic BD35 has a SDHC card socket that can play AVCHD. I tried using some conversion software to convert video to it but couldn't get it to work. Video standards are a nightmare, we even have a mac that is good at this stuff and it falls over with some equipment and standards. We did get it to make normal DVDs from one camcorder, but a friends wouldn't work. -- Tony |
