Default Question - adverts on HD

Just wondering what happens with regional adverts on ITV1 HD. Are all
the adverts taken from one region (Granada?) or can local adverts now
be incorporated into the HD channel in that area?

Similarly, with STV does STV North (formerly Grampian) have its own
adverts on STV HD?

Finally, I'm not sure if Channel 4 has local advertising. If it does,
what happens with HD?

Just wondering.

No! What is happening is that ITV are creating several versions of
ITV1HD for Freeview, Sky and Virgin cable viewers - all Freesat
viewers get just the ONE region (and its adverts).

So far these regions do not match the ITV areas - for example there
is a "North of England" ITV1HD

No

C4 has 6 "advertising regions" - but only one for C4HD on satellite so far.
(Just Sky in this case - they are not on Freesat)

I believe that C4HD on Freeview (and Virgin cable) just has the one "region"
that they use for Sky so far.

Of course C4 have never had as obvious regional adverts as ITV. ITV1HD
also expose the "wrong regionness" in local news and weather and look to be
working towards matching at least the major regions in time.

They did when the local IBA company were charged with selling their
advertising. It was perfectly normal to get regional ads on C4 back then. You
you would also get cross-promotion on ITV and C4 - eg "next over on C4 is
countdown, meanwhile here on ITV we have the news".

Yes. Here in the East Midlands we used to receive Granada on ITVHD but now we
receive the Meridian region! (Via DSAT, Sky HD box).
