Total crap.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...SH+FREESAT.htm

It's put me off the Freesat platform a little as well to be honest. I
found the picture worse than Freeview (maybe it was the cheap HDMI cable
versus the built in freeview of my samsung 42 inch plasma).

The menus were horrible, the EPG was god awful.... the remote control
had sharp plastic edging. A horrid experience!

If I went for a recondtioned Humax box would my faith be restored?

What difference would an expensive HDMI cable made?

I thought that maybe the bundled HDMI cable that came with the Bush
freesat box might be resulting in a poor picture?

would a cheap usb cable make your printer produce bad prints?
it's a data cable - either the data makes it through or it doesn't - and if
it doesn't you dont get a rubbish picture - you get a big splodge of breakup

Sorry I had no idea, I figured it was like a poor quality RF or Scart? I
stand corrected! All HDMI cables are equal.

PS. I never questioned it on price - cheap or expensive.

Oh yeah I did call it cheap! I meant like the noise a bird makes
rather than price

I didn't realise it was a data cable, I thought it was like an RF cable
but fancy. I've learnt something there, thank you. Maybe cheap was the
"wrong" word to use - I should have said "Bush Quality HDMI lead".

Does this mean all HDMI cables are equal?

Nope, it is possible to make an HDMI cable so poorly that it can't
handle the fast pulse transitions and minimal error correction of an
HDMI signal; but as pointed out any degradation is going to be obvious
not subtle.
