I have twice recorded ITV HD only to find on playback the subtitles are
missing, though they were ok when watched live. As subtitles are
essential to me I am loath to try again, am I failing to do something?

can't say now brian as it recovered with the switchover. Some people
said it might be MHEG or whatever. It was just ch5, or maybe all of
their other channels too but we never watched those.

Perhaps I should have said that I use Freesat and record and play back
BBC HD fine.

Which was why I was worried, as the ad is simply an extra channel and
subtitles, presumably just data.
