I can't see this having been mentioned, but dual-format players will be
ready next year, apparently:

Thats good news. Not surprised thought given the size of the market and it
saves the dvd machines manufacturers trying to outguess which format was
going to win.
Im surprised the two sides didnt agree in the first place to avoid a
betamax/vhs type situation arising again.
