David Richardson writes As from Tuesday, Channel 5 Analouge - Sandy Heath, Anglia Region, started showing a message to phone Sky for future service, its states they are "going off air soon" !!!!! What's going on, is this the first sign of war, after the BBC goes FTA on Satellite. Well that's a new one on me! Is it still there now? It could be that transmitter gets it's feed via D-SAT - or maybe it's just a backup and the primary feed had failed. There has been some discussion in utd-tv about the implications for D-SAT viwers who don't have a Sky Sub and will they continue to be able to receive, ITV, C4 & C5. I've x-posted this to that ng as someone there might know more about that specific transmitter. (But it does indicate that if C5 has been taking their analogue transmitter feed directly off the D-SAT signal, they'll have to do something to sort it quickly!) C5's analogue transmitters, (with the exception of Croydon serving London) are fed from 'private' D-Sat signals on 37W and 18W. They do not (or should not) use 28E (aka 'Sky') To the original poster. Are you sure this message was seen *directly* on Sandy's off air signal, rather than via a communal aerial, or cable system. I suspect the latter, and your C5 signal comes via a Sky box tucked away, rather than off air reception of Sandy H. Worth telling C5 all the same, should stir up some trouble ! |

Worth telling C5 all the same, should stir up some trouble ! Well seems they found out, the message cleared over night. Perhaps an engineer woke up at Sandy and pressed Back Up on his Sat box!!! DJR |
