He did not quote the words of his father.
What he was suggesting that it is a better course of action to
get a job to seek employment where it may be found than to riot.
That is a sentiment which which I would agree.
His speech was more to do with quelling civil unrest that to
providing real advice to the unemployed.
However, his comment was disingenuous because for many, they had
been seeking employment for years but because of the Conservative
and Unionist administration policy of de-industrialization, no
jobs were to be found even within bicycle riding distance.
A classic example was the privatization of the shipyards into
the hands of a cartel which rapidly closed down competing
yards which they had just bought, ensuring that sites which
had employed tens of thousands were left as vacant ghost sites.
