In a very negative way, yes. They gave their life for their cause - no
matter how misguided we may think it.


A better example was the WW2 German kriegsmarine U Boat force.
Their attacking of unarmed ships and not rescuing victims was despicable,
and by 1944 they knew their chances of surviving a mission was 1 in 4,
It didn't stop them going.
