The installer complains it can't communicate with the Toppy. Tried it
on a laptop running Win7 and a PC running XP. And different cables.

All I've done so far is check all the voltages from the SMPS and
they're all fine.

Nothing much of relevance I can find on the Toppy forum. But then I'm
probably not looking for the right thing.

I'd respectfully suggest that you're not *asking* in the right place. Why
not pose the question on the 'Computer Connections' thread of the Forums?
You'll get more replies than here, I should think, and very probably a
helpful answer rather quickly.

Agreed.

My old Toppy worked perfectly up until the PSU died.

I replaced it with a secondhand one prior to getting the original
fettled.

This had the "new and improved" software which I wanted to downgrade,
but I couldn't transfer it.

Altair "found" the Toppy but couldn't transfer files either.

The Forum folks gave me a different way of upgrading the firmware
which worked, and suddenly the computer could see it again.

Not entirely sure what that was all about.
