What do you make of the channel at 10744 H that comes up as Test-R ?
Now and Next information is ' Dynamische Programmunschalt' - some kind
of
dynamic program selection, but how or what ?
Each time I select that channel I get either arte or Phoenix apparently
at
random.
Phoenix @ 10744 Video Pid 501
arte @ 10744 Video PId 401
Test-R @ 10744 Video Pid listed as 401 or 501 dependente on
arte or Phoenix showing.
I think it's a test of the programme mapping table which (in theory)
can be used to dynamically change the PIDs that a service is using.
If a receiver continuously monitors the PMT for changes, then it will
automatically switch (in the present case) between arte and Phoenix at
the appropriate time. But if a receiver only consults the PMT when it
first tunes to a channel, then it will continue to use the PIDs (for
either arte or Phoenix) regardless of subsequent changes in the PMT.
In that case my Comag SL65 is constantly monitoring the PMT because it
switches the displayed channel intermittently when left unattended on
Test-R
I'll check out my other receivers to see if they also change the
displayed channel at the remote command.
I've just checked my two FTA boxes and they both make the switch at
intervals of one minute. Presumably they must respond to PMT changes to be
DVB-S compliant, but there may be boxes that don't, and manufacturers can
obviously use Test-R for receiver testing.
